March: A Stressful Month

This is going to be a pretty crazy month for me. The workload that I currently have is huge and it's starting to demotivate me. I feel like every time I get one thing finished I get three more things thrown at me. I feel like I'm neglecting some things in order to focus on others and that always leads to the thing that I've tossed to the side coming out badly. There's just so much to do in such a short period of time. Maybe I need to work on my time management.

On the plus side, the end of this month marks the end of the semester. So in four weeks time I get a month off to revise for my three exams and the in the following weeks I sit the exams. After that, I get a nice six month holiday. It's well needed, but I reckon I'm going to have to look for a job this summer. I've been going to the pub most weekends recently. Sometimes for both the Friday night and the Saturday night. On some occasions my entire Saturday has been spent sitting in the pub. It's expensive when there aren't people willing to buy me drinks and if I keep this up I'm going to have no money left before the summer gets here.

Last month I also got talking to some pretty nice girls when I was out. It's not all that often that I come across new people that I'm happy to sit and chat with for several hours, but these folk were different. I admit, I took a bit of a shine to them but whether or not the feeling is mutual is yet to be seen, or I may never find out depending on how I go about things. It did get me thinking about things though. Should I actually start trying to find myself a girlfriend? Twenty years old and I've never actually bothered to try and get myself a girlfriend before. That then led to me wondering how hard it would be to find someone I actually like and could spend my time with. Either way, it has put my mind in a bit of a mess for now. It's not good having a whole load of coursework on my mind as well as thinking about this.

March isn't looking like it's going to be particularly exciting for me. If anything, I just want it to be over and done with. I'm losing the willpower to work hard at uni because I feel like I'm being worked so hard. My attitude has gone from "I need to try and do well" to "Fuck it, as long as I have something to submit I'll be alright". It's not something I like to admit, but it's the truth.

Anything interesting happening this month with you guys?

Rebuilt My Website - 10/03/12

Some of you may recall that I originally had a website that I built from scratch and coded myself. I then replaced it with a site managed by WordPress. Well, now I've decided that using WordPress is boring, so last night I decided to design my website again from scratch. I started with absolutely nothing and within a few hours I had something similar to how it currently looks. See for yourself: deansplace.pcriot.com

It's fairly basic, but does it really need to be anything more? I like knowing that I coded the entire thing with no outside help. Plus, it's a good way for me too touch up on my web development ability. I'll aim to improve things as time goes on, but for now I'm quite happy with the design. I just need to add some more content to it, but as I have coursework and such to be doing instead, it might take a few weeks.

Anyway, take a look at my site and let me know what you think. I'd appreciate any feedback!

Comments

Mass Effect 3 on the 6th, Silent Hill Downpour on the 13th, Operation Raccoon City on the 20th I think. Also Silent Hill HD if it doesn't get another delay.

Not that I have the dosh to buy any of those though, except maybe ME3. Other than that this month sort of smells though. Never did like March.

Never had much interest in having a GF either to be honest, though I doubt I could find one if I tried. Can't remember the last time I legitimately studied now that I think about it. My life contains nothing worth living for D:

Some good games, but I've lost motivation to play games too. I've lost motivation to do a lot of stuff. SO MUCH FUCKING WORK! :(
I think the main reason I've never tried the whole girlfriend thing is because I just don't have the time right now. Although having said that, at such a stressful time like this I reckon it would be nice to have someone around that could cheer me up. A girlfriend seems appealing right now, but it's probably not going to happen.
Heh. I feel like life is getting pretty shit just now too, so I can empathise with you there. I don't know why I'm letting uni stress me out so much right now. I'm not the stressed out kind. People who know me well have be down as the funny guy who's never down, but this is just mental.

I wonder if I'll bother with college. Seems like a lot of work when I could be sat here procrastinating day after day.

Or look for a job you lazy Irish bum!

Sucks that you're having a shit time. I kinda know how you feel, I've been trying to fill out a police application form and all I seem to do is put it off for hours then open the pdf and stare at it for a while.

It's getting to the point now that I'll probably miss the intake altogether. I almost want to just write N/A to every question and submit it so I can at least say I tried. Argh laziness is not my friend here!

Although I'm much more concerned that Deus Ex Human Revolution apparently dispatched on the 22nd and it's still not here. What the fuck, Amazon third party seller?

Is the police application massive or are you just incredibly lazy? The streets will be a safer place with PC Kieran on patrol.
But if you fill it in and it goes somewhere, you might get to patrol the streets with a baton, pepper spray and a pair of handcuffs. Think of all the fun you could have!
Which reminds me. That's another game that I seemed to abandon mid way through. Ah well, it's almost summer time so I'll get around to it. Also, send that seller angry emails.

It's 29 pages all in, I need to list all my uni addresses which I've totally forgotten. And there's essay questions about respecting other's beliefs which I'm totally into.

And as much fun as wielding a baton and pepper spray might sound, the sheer volume of paperwork generated by using them probably makes it easier to just get beaten up and retire on disability. Ker-ching!

Sounds like you have your plans for the future sorted. Now, fill out that form!

Site's alright. Not a fan of the colours though. Seems a bit empty too, a few photos would liven it up. Wasn't there a game collection page before?

You should add a donate button which gives out photos of varying nakedness depending on the amount donated.

Yea, I was trying to change the colour scheme about 15 minutes ago before I got error messages because the servers hard disk is full. That's what I get for using free hosting! I still need to add some content. Photos were planned to be included, but finding something relevant is tricky.
That's a great idea. $100 to see me in shorts and t-shirt!

OH MY GOD WHAT IS HAPPENING

Not my fault. I assume they took the server it's hosted on down to solve that "disk full" error I mentioned last time. I wanted to play about with colour schemes too :(

Oioioioi

Hello there young man.

Hey do you like something besides oi

I like a few different kinds of music. Quite a lot in fact. I just like punk and oi a lot more than all the other genres.

I was raised on punk. My brother, uncle (who was old enough to see the early days), and cousins all grew up with it. I kind of used it as a guide through discovering kind of music I enjoy.

Nice! I was raised on it too. Is it still a style of music that you enjoy listening to or did you eventually move on to something else. Also, American or British punk?

My dad kinda pushed the British punk style. My brothers didnt like it and I also ended up getting into American punk mostly. Later on I checked out punk from all over. I still love the old school and really got into learning the history of it. Its prety much the only genre I enjoy as a whole. Everything else I like little bits scattered about and spontaneous. Punk is still my favourite thing ever.

Because of this, you have just become one of my favourite users! :)

Oh gee

you have got a scar on your eyebrow in the exact place i have mine

Did you get yours from street fighting?
